Founder

George Cormack was born in Edmonton on April 22, 1917. He received his B.A. and M.D. from the University of Alberta in 1937 and 1944 respectively. He practised medicine in Fort St. John, B.C. until 1958 and remained a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta throughout his life.

He received his B.Ed. in 1960 from the University of Alberta and founded Tempo School in 1963, nurturing its development over the next three decades until his retirement as Director of the school in 1995.

Dr. Cormack was committed to education at all levels. He served two terms on the Senate of the University of Alberta and in 1993 was made an honorary life member of the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges of Alberta.

Dr. Cormack passed away on November 6, 2000, at the age of 83.
